Lobinger Fritz was born in 1929 in Passau, Germany. Ordained a priest (Ratisbon, 1955), a year after traveling to South Africa to work as a missionary of Fidei Donum. Doctor of Missiology at the University of Munster, was cofounder of the Institute of Pastoral Lumko of the Episcopal Conference of South Africa. Bishop of the Diocese of Aliwal (1988-2004), in 2008 retired to the monastery Mariannhill South Africa, from where he continues writing and participating in international meetings.
