It is one of Europe's most important poets and thus Italians in decades. Eugenio Montale, Giuseppe Ungaretti and Salvatore Quasimodo were part of a jury which he obtained in 1951 the San Babila, material that proved to be his first published book prize. Within his work stand Dietro paesaggio il, Vocative, The Beltà, Filò, Il Galateo in bosco, Fosfeni and Language, the latter of enormous significance for contemporary poetry. Zanzotto also published a book of stories Sull'altipiano also review books and test Fantasie di avvivinamento and Aure and disincanti nel Novecento italiano, among others.
