Carlos Avilez

In his childhood he learned the basic principles of music with his father. At age 15 he started playing the electric bass, a Fender Precision '80 owned by the pbro. Rogelio López, who sponsored him to begin his musical career in his native Ciudad Obregón. In 1984 under the influence of English and North American rock, he formed Khafra, a heavy metal group sung in Spanish where he stayed for three years until the recording of the legendary black record. In 1986 he arrived in Guadalajara, where he studied at the music school of the University of Guadalajara. In 1990 he founded together with José Fors the heavy rock group 'Cuca' and later with Oscar Fuentes, the blues group Horas Muertas, later he made his bolero-blues-rock band Mexican style Avilez y Extraños, later called La Orquesta Única Carlos Avilez where he sings his compositions. Since then, he has toured all kinds of national forums, has toured the southern United States, Europe and Latin America and has played practically all genres of popular music, from heavy rock in Cuca to the bolero and northern bolero of Los Bomberos, local tapatian band to which he belonged for three years. He has also collaborated with Forseps, Jaime López, Projector, Jaramar, Nata, Oscar Fuentes, Neal Black, Gerardo Enciso, Luis Delgadillo y los Keliguanes, Leo Marín, Galdino Chávez and in the rock operas Dr. Frankenstein and Orlok, the vampire. In November 2009, he published a book on children's and young people's literature called Una historia como Any other, under the Rhythm & Books publishing label, this same label released his first album-book-dvd under the editorial care of Elena Santibáñez, book and composite disc of texts, drawings and songs by Avilez, in addition to the DVD with video clip, documentary and extra material by Ray Cebada, this literary-graphic-musical-visual material is called If Hell Existed, it was released on May 15, 2013. In 2016 publishes again in Rhythm & Books México Profundo, a songbook made up of 15 songs by well-known authors such as José Alfredo Jiménez, Cuco Sánchez, Consuelo Velázquez and others; the disc-book contains texts on each subject, delving into anecdotes, data from the author, other interpreters, etc. Deep Mexico came to public light on February 2, 2016. To date, he continues his work with Cuca and singing, composing and producing with La Orquesta Única.
