Diego Osorno

Reporter and Mexican writer (1980, Monterrey) who has been a witness and narrator of some of the main conflicts of the 21st century in Mexico and other Latin American countries. It is, according to the New Ibero-American Journalism Foundation Gabriel García Márquez, one of the New Chroniclers of the Indies. He has received awards such as the "A mano disarmata" Award from the Stampa Romana in Italy, the Latin American Prize for Journalism on Drugs, the International Prize for Journalism for the 35 years of the Proceso magazine and the National Journalism Award of Mexico 2013, the which he dedicated to the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN). Some of his books, such as El Cartel de Sinaloa (2009), La Guerra de los Zetas (2012) and Contra Estados Unidos (2014) have been included in the annual lists of the best non-fiction literature of the newspaper Reforma. His most recent book is Slim. Political biography of the richest Mexican in the world. He has also made film projects such as El Alcalde, awarded internationally, as well as initiatives to regenerate the social fabric through narrative journalism, such as ElBarrioAntiguo.com. He was part of the Oaxaca Truth Commission, which documented crimes against humanity and consigned officials involved in extrajudicial executions and acts of torture. He has been a professor at the University of Monterrey, publishes a weekly column in the newspaper Maspormas and is a writer from Bengala, an agency dedicated to the creation and development of stories for film and television.
