Eugenio Montale was born in Genoa in 1896 he was a poet, essayist and critic of music. Of his work are: Ossi di seppia (1925), Le occasioni (1939), Finisterre (1943), La Albufera e altro (1956), Auto da Fe (1966), Fuori di casa (1969), di quattro anni Quaderno (1977), Altri versi (1980) and Journal posthumous (1996).
In 1975 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
