Francisco J. Rubia

Francisco J. Rubia (Málaga, 1938) is Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid. He has also been a professor and scientific advisor to the Ludwig Maximillian University in Munich. He studied medicine at the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Düsseldorf, where he received his doctorate in medicine and surgery in 1962. He has been deputy director of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital and director of its Research Department, vice chancellor of Research of the Complutense University of Madrid and general director of Research of the Community of Madrid. He is a full member of the Royal National Academy of Medicine and vice president of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. Belongs to the Free College of Emeritus. His specialty is the physiology of the nervous system, field in which he has worked for more than forty years and in which he has more than two hundred publications. He is the author of the books The brain deceives us, The divine connection, What do you know about your brain? 60 answers to 60 questions, Sex of the brain. The fundamental difference between men and women and The Phantom of Freedom.
