Kadare currently lives between Paris and Tirana. For years he is a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature, and in 2005 he won the International Prize Man Booker Prize. His books, mainly novels have been translated into more than forty languages​​. Many of them were written in the period of the Stalinist regime of Enver Hoxha, under conditions of brutal censorship. But Kadare not claim to have been a dissident. About his work created during this period, says: "I normally literature in a non-normal time."
