Jacques Labeyrie is a French physicist and climatologist, born June 7, 1920 in Paris and died March 9, 2011.

Graduated from the 59th promotion of ESPCI, as well as from the Faculty of Sciences of Paris, Jacques Labeyrie was an engineer and doctor in physical sciences and was the assistant of Frédéric Joliot-Curie. He started his career at the CNRS in 1943 then was head of service at the Atomic Energy Commission from 1957 and founder then director of the Center for weak radioactivities at the CNRS in Gif-sur-Yvette from 1969. He has writes numerous articles in the fields of nuclear physics and nuclear electronics, as well as geophysics. He was an Officer of the National Order of Merit.
