Juan Bernier was born in La Carlota in 1911 and died in Córdoba in 1989. In 1947 he founded the Cordovan magazine Cántico, of which he is a director with Ricardo Molina and Pablo García Baena. Dedicated professionally to teaching, archeology and history, he published four books of poems: Aquí en la tierra (1948), Una voz cualquiera (1959), Poesía en seis tiempos (1977) and En el pozo del yo (1982). His poetic work has been collected in complete Poetry (Valencia, Pre-texts, 2011).
