Kailash Satyarthi

He is an advocate for children's rights. Born in the state of Madhya Pradesh, in India, he trained as an electrical engineer but from a young age he directed his life towards the fight against child labor. In 1980, he created Bachpan Bachao Andolan [Let's Save Children Movement] and in 1998 started the Global March against Child Labor, which involved activists in more than one hundred countries. He has received numerous awards and honorary doctorates in his native country, the United States, Germany, Italy and Spain; in 2014, he shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Malala Yousafzai “for her fight against the concealment of children and young people and for the right of all children to education”.
