Mariana Méndez Gallardo

Mariana Méndez Gallardo has a PhD in Philosophy from UNAM; To obtain the degree, he studied at the Pompeu Fabra University and the Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg. She is a teacher in Visual Arts with a specialty in Sculpture, from the San Carlos Academy of UNAM, and a teacher in Theology and Contemporary World from the Iberoamerican University in Mexico City, as well as a degree in Philosophy from the same university. Since 2017 she is a Researcher of the National System of Researchers of Mexico. She has been a subject professor at the Department of Philosophy and Humanities at ITESO, at the Jesuit University of Guadalajara, at the Department of General Studies at ITAM and at the Faculty of Arts of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. Likewise, she has been a full-time professor at the UACM Academy of Art and Cultural Heritage; of the Faculty of Arts and Design of the UNAM and of the Department of Religious Sciences of the Iberoamerican University Mexico City. She was a visiting professor-researcher at the Department of Cultural Property of the University of Padua in 2016. She has focused her research on patristic, ancient and medieval philosophy; philosophy of art and aesthetics (with a particular interest in spiritual thinking in the visual arts); aesthetic and apophatic theology, and the philosophy of religion. She is a sculptor in stone carving and since 2006 she has carried out artistic production stays in both Barcelona and Carrara.
