Olegario González de Cardenal (Lastra del Cano, Avila, 1934) is a theologian and essayist. Doctor in Theology from the University of Munich, extended studies at Oxford and Washington. He has been professor at the Pontifical University of Salamanca until his retirement in 2004 and Academician of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences. It was Xavier Zubiri and collaborator and fellow student Karl Rahner. He received Espasa Essay Prize in 1984 for his work The power and consciousness.
