Pere Calders i Rossinyol (Barcelona, ​​1912 - 1994) considered one of the best authors of Catalan literature. His work has reached an extraordinary repetition and has been translated into numerous languages.

He began his literary career with El primer arlequí (1936), a volume of short stories followed by six others, as well as four novels, in addition to other publications. As a result of the civil war he was exiled to Mexico, where he lived from 1939 to 1962.

His work has deserved the most prestigious awards in Catalan literature: the collection of short stories Crónòiques de la veritat oculta (1955) was awarded the Víctor Català Prize, the novel L'ombra de l'atzavara (1964) with the Sant Jordi Prize , Invasió subtil i altres contes with the Lletra d'Or; He has also obtained the Critics Award four times. His storybook Tot s'aprofita won the Generalitat's Prize for literary creation in 1984.

The theater show Antaviana, based on several of his stories, made by Dagall Dagom, began to popularize his name in Spain.
