Piedad Bonnett

Piedad Bonnett was born in 1951 in Colombia. She has a degree in Philosophy and Literature from the Universidad de los Andes and a professor at this university since 1981. She has a master's degree in Theory of Art and Architecture at the National University of Colombia. He has published seven books of poems. With the first of them, Circle and Ash, he received the honorable mention in the Hispano-American Poetry Contest Octavio Paz, and with the thread of the days he won the National Poetry Prize awarded by the Colombian Institute of Culture, Colcultura, in 1994 It has, among other anthologies, The rest is silence, Anthology and The privileges of oblivion. The inheritances was published in December 2008. With the book of poems Explanations not requested, published in 2011, he won the Casa de América de Madrid prize for American Poetry, in addition to the José Lezama Lima Honorific Prize for Poetry awarded in 2014 by Casa of the Americas of Cuba. In October 2012 he received the Poetas del Mundo Latino Poetry Prize Victor Sandoval in Aguascalientes, Mexico, for the contribution of his work to the Spanish language. Piedad Bonnett is also the author of four plays set up by the Free Theater under the direction of Ricardo Camacho, and four novels published in Alfaguara: After all (2001), For others it is heaven (2004), It was always winter (2007) and The prestige of beauty (2010). His poems have been translated into Italian, English, French, Swedish, Greek and Portuguese.
