Yolotl González Torres

Yolotl González Torres (born March 7, 1932 in Mexico City) is a Mexican Mesoamerican ethnologist, specialized in Aztec civilization, in ancient cultures of India and East Asia in general, and is also an anthropologist of religions .

He holds a master's degree in anthropology from the National School of Anthropology and History, a doctorate in anthropology, and a postgraduate degree from the University of Delhi, India. Since 2015 she is an emeritus researcher at the Directorate of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

She was executive secretary of the School of Anthropology of the Iberoamerican University (UIA) 1960 to 1963, and director of the Center for Asian Studies of the same (1962-1963), was curator of the Asia section of the National Museum of Cultures (1965 -1972), executive secretary of the Center for Oriental Studies of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) (1966-67), director of the Department of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the INAH (1977-1983), director of the Museum of El Carmen del INAH (1983-1993). She currently works as a full-time researcher at the INAH Ethnology and Social Anthropology Directorate.

President of the Mexican Society for the Study of Religions A.C. She was vice-president of the International Association for the History of Religions (1995-2000) of which she is currently a member of the Honorary Council for life, president of the Organizing Committee of the International Congress for the History of Religions held in Mexico City in 1995, and member of the Advisory Council of the Latin American Association for Asian and African Studies. Coordinator of the Cycle of Conferences The Man and the Sacred, president of the organizing committee of the international colloquia religion and symbol; and religion and music, as well as the Mexico-Cuba Meeting on popular religiosity.

He has taught the subjects "Myth and Religion" at the Iberoamerican University (1959-1960), "Cultural Anthropology of Asia" at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (1961-1965), "Ethnohistory of Mesoamerica" at the National School of Anthropology and History (1992-1994), "Introduction to Asian Cultures" at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, National Autonomous University of Mexico. From 1998 to date he teaches "Introduction to the Cultures of Asia".
