In this work, the evaluation of the impact exerted by linguistic competence in the achievement of translation competence is proposed through the analysis of the results of the application of two evaluation instruments to students of the degree in translation of the Faculty of Languages, UABC , Tijuana Campus, under a quantitative approach. This is how the hypotheses proposed are indicated using numerical magnitudes that are processed with the use of statistical tools. The way in which students meet their foreign language level required to carry out a good translation is carefully analyzed. However, the translation of the target language did not turn out as expected. Do they need more practice in the translation exercise or are they facing problems in their own language?
