In this book that completes his autobiography The Dance of Reality (Siruela, 2001), Alejandro Jodorowsky tells how he met the Japanese teacher Ejo Takata, who started him in meditation, in Zen Buddhism and in the teaching transmitted by koans. However, the application of this knowledge in life was learned from a small group of women ("magicians") who had nothing to do with Buddhism. Although it was Takata himself who showed him the essence of Zen and Koans, the experience of these teachings was only learned through these women. In this book he talks about the surrealist writer and painter Leonora Carrington; Doña Magdalena, who taught her initiatory massage; of the powerful Mexican actress La Tigresa; and Reyna D’Assia, daughter of the occultist G. I. Gurdjieff. But in the author's life there were other magicians: the priestess of the mushrooms María Sabina, the medicine woman Pachita or the Chilean singer Violeta Parra, of whom she already wrote in The Dance of Reality and Psychomagia (Siruela, 2004).
