A propósito de la historia y de los historiadores
What place does historical knowledge occupy in social life? Are you acting for or against the established order? Is it a hierarchical product that descends from specialists to "" consumers of history "" through books, television or tourism? Is it first and foremost rooted in a collective need, a reference to the past that operates throughout the entire social body and whose specialized research would only be one aspect among others? All these questions are political and the author addresses them in directly political terms, based on a joint reflection based on the rejection of capitalism, at the same time from social practice, from the specific struggles in which it has had occasion to participate for some years. Jean Chesneaux Siglo XXI has also published A Political Reading by Jules Verne and Peasant Movements in China (1840-1949).
