After the Conquest, the Spanish began to evangelize and consolidate New Spain, where the indigenous and the Spanish were integrated in various ways. Thus, the largest and most important viceroyalty of America would fully develop during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, when the new political, economic, social, cultural and artistic structures were defined that would give its identity to the next independent Mexico.
