For the first time, a work by Abu-l-Hasan al-Nuri of Baghdad sees the light in the West. Neither Miguel Asín Palacios nor Louis Massignon had the opportunity to know the mystical treatise Moradas de los corazones, which is one of the founding works of Sufism. The work of the delicate contemplative of Baghdad contributed decisively to the formation of the technical language of Islamic mysticism and came to influence authors such as Abu Nasr Al-Sarray, Yalaloddin Rumi and Mansur Hallay. For a Spanish-speaking audience the mystical booklet has a special interest, since Nuri is one of the first Muslim authors to outline the simile of the seven concentric castles of the soul that Teresa of Jesus was to make famous in European mysticism, without noticing that she was Christianizing a symbolic motive that Islam reiterated over many centuries
