July 1, 1858 was a day when in the opinion of J.J. Bennett, secretary of the Linnean Society of London, did not pass anything relevant to the development and future of science. This first of July three writings were presented, on behalf of the English naturalists Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace, in which in a concrete way the ideas that have revolutionized thought on organic nature and have impacted in various spheres of science and human thought: the theory of evolution through variation and natural selection, were made known.
