Rene Guenon (1886-1951) and Frithjof Schuon (1907-1998) were the creators of which is known as the "traditionalist" school "perennialist" of wisdom, which Guenon and Schuon pioneered the culmination. Guenon's work comprises on the one hand, exposing the immutable principles of universal metaphysics and traditional orthodoxy; on the other, .a relentless criticism of the modern world from a "Platonic" or metaphysical view, and finally a brilliant exposition of the intellectual content of traditional symbols of all religions. Schuon's work incorporates all these aspects, but adds to them a "practice" dimension and "director" generally absent in the work of Guenon.
