In the creative activity of Paul Valéry (1871-1945) had an important place the reflection on poetry and aesthetics. It was emphasized in articles, prologues and conferences that, with the density and penetration that characterized the author, were forming a true aesthetic and poetic theory. Valéry flees from the common places, from the social uses - political, pedagogic, institutional ... - of the poetry, in the search of that which is proper to him and necessary to be poetry.
