José Olivio Jiménez (Santa Clara, Cuba, 1926 - Madrid, Spain, 2003) was a literary critic, who, although born in Cuba, spent much of his life in the United States (where he was a university professor) Took contact with important poets and Spanish critics like Vicente Aleixandre, Francisco Brines, Claudio Rodríguez or Carlos Bousoño.

He has excelled especially in the study of the call generation of 50 or the poets of the half century.
