Natsuko Imamura was born in 1980 in Hiroshima and later moved to Osaka to complete her university studies. She began her career as a writer with several short stories that won her different literary awards, including the Dazai Osamu and the Mishima Yukio. Later, two of her novels received the Kawai Hayao and the Noma Literary New Face, and she was nominated for the prestigious Akutagawa award, which she finally won in 2019 with The Woman in the Violet Skirt and which has established her as one of the new voices. of contemporary Japanese literature.
