Philip Lopate

(New York, 1943) is a novelist, film and architecture critic and one of the most outstanding essayists in the United States. His books include Bachelorhood (1981), Portrait of My Body (1996) and Waterfront: A Journey Around Manhattan (2004). Her novel The Merchant of Carpets has recently been translated into Spanish, where she portrays the life of a nobody.
