Professor of the Oxford Faculty of Music since 2014, having been Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester and Lecturer at Reading. Visiting Scholar at Columbia University and the Max Planck Institut in Berlin, is currently editor of the Journal of the Royal Musical Association.
His research work has focused on German Romanticism. She is the author of "Schumann's Late Style" (2007) and co-editor of "Rethinking Schumann" (2011), in addition to regularly publishing in specialized magazines.
