What we call "dandyism"? For nearly two centuries, this concept has been applied to a heterogeneous lineage of eccentric, individuals refined and somewhat rare. Of course, the stoic sobriety of George Brummell is very different from the refinement of French decadent or "elegance of the working class" both proud to certain British subcultures of the sixties. Prodigious Myrmidons is precisely this development and this plurality, offering a tour of the various formulations of dandyism through literary: a selection of stories, essays, articles and excerpts from novels that document the evolution of the dandy from fashionable novels nineteenth century to the postmodern senses of the word.
