He is professor of psychology and anthropology at the Institute for Social Research and co-director of the Culture and Cognition Program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He was a fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford, and has authored numerous articles and book Race in the Making: Cognition, Culture and the Child's Construction of Human Kinds.
