José M. Santa Cruz G. (Santiago, Chile, 1983) did film studies at the Universidad Arte y Ciencias Sociales-ARCIS and in history and art theory at the University of Chile, both in Santiago de Chile. He is the author of the books Image-simulacrum: studies of contemporary cinema (1) [Heavy Metals Editions, 2010] and of Image-synthetic: studies of contemporary cinema (2) [Heavy Metals Editions, 2013]. He is also co-editor of El cine that was: 100 years of Chilean cinema (Editorial ARCIS, 2011) and Audiovisual and politics in Chile (Editorial ARCIS and Institute of Aesthetics-PUC, 2014). His articles have been published in various scholarly and popular journals, as well as in books, among which he highlights, The Chair of the Commons, publishers Hans Stange and Claudio Salinas Muñoz (Ediciones Cuarto Propio, 2013). He was creator and coordinator of the Research Area of the Film School of the ARCIS University (2009-2011).
