Doctor in Natural Sciences and Mathematics from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands (2000), thanks to the work in the industrial application of bacteria; Then he analyzed the growth of leukemias at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He joined the CSIC in 2002, where he works at the National Center for Biotechnology, in Madrid. At CNB-CSIC, he has focused his research on the relationship between cell division, cell specialization and cancer.
