Plautus is known above all as the first playwright in the history of Western literature and, consequently, an inexhaustible source of imitation for later authors, call them Molière or Lope de Vega. In it, it is worth noting not only his formidable imaginative universe and the creative genius of his own language, but also the fact that he was the architect of the first known stage revolution against a genre, the Greek theater, already established. The present volume of comedies, the third published in this collection, includes new annotated translations of "El gorgojo", "El Ladino Carthaginés", "The three coins" and "El fiero renegón", accompanied by an introductory study that places the author and his work in its historical context.
