Alejandro Vaccaro was born in Buenos Aires in 1951. He is currently President of the Borgesiana Association of Buenos Aires, Editorial Secretary of the magazine Proa, member of the Argentine Bibliophile Society and Honorary President of the Jorge Luis Borges Studies Institute of the Catholic University of San Pablo (Brazil). He is the author of Georgie (1899-1930). A life of Jorge Luis Borges (1996), Mr. Borges (2004), Borges. A biography in images (2005), The Borges manuscript (2006), Borges. Life and literature (2006) and Passenger of life (2016). He was designated an illustrious visitor to the cities of La Plata, Mar del Plata, Villa María (Córdoba), La Cumbre (Córdoba) and received the Diploma of Honor from the Honorable Senate of the Nation. In 2009 he received the Alianza Hispánica award in Madrid. His books have been translated into Portuguese, Polish, Turkish and Serbian. In 2011, he received the Hispanic medal in Buenos Aires and was designated a Member of the Institute of Culture of Mexico. In 2016 he was appointed Member of the Academia Porteña del Lunfardo. He is currently President of the Argentine Society of Writers and Vice President of the "El Libro" Foundation, an entity that organizes the Buenos Aires International Book Fair. In 2018 he was designated Outstanding Personality in the Field of Culture by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
