Marc van de Mieroop. He is Professor of History at Columbia University (United States). Director of the Columbia Center on the Ancient Mediterranean, he is the founding editor of the Journal of Ancient Near Eastern History. The author of more than a hundred articles, he is also the author of numerous books on various aspects of the histories of the ancient Near East and Egypt, among which are: The Ancient Mesopotamian City (1997; 1999); King Hammurabi of Babylon (2004); The Eastern Mediterranean in the Age of Ramesses II (2009), and A History of Ancient Egypt (2010).
