A young Thessalian, who has come to Athens to recruit mercenaries, approaches Socrates in the middle of the street to ask him if the art of politics is something that is acquired or that is innate to the individual. From there, Plato develops one of his most famous dialogues, which finds its climax when Socrates demonstrates that an ignorant and slave child is able to remember the geometry he had learned in one of his previous lives. Located at the crossroads of the intellectual evolution of its author, the moment in which he abandons his fidelity to Socrates to begin to expose his own thought, the Menon is a true microcosm of the Platonic ideology, a key piece that explains many previous dialogues and that provides the foundations on which those that Plato will write later will be built.
