Manuel Maples Arce (Papantla, Veracruz, May 1, 1900-Mexico City, June 26, 1981) was a Mexican poet, lawyer, diplomat and writer, founder of Stridentism. He is considered one of the heroes of Latin American avant-garde. of the 20th century.
He spent his childhood in the port of Tuxpan. He studied high school in Veracruz and Xalapa; the career of lawyer, in the capital of the country. From 1935 he entered the foreign service. Between 1944 and 1967, he was ambassador to Panama, Chile, Colombia, Japan, Canada, Norway, Lebanon, and Pakistan.
