Luciano Berio

Luciano Berio (Oneglia, 1925 - Rome, 2003) was one of the greatest Italian composers of the 20th century. Raised in a family of musicians, he studied composition and musical direction at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. Since the 1950s he stood out as one of the main representatives of the European musical avant-garde and pioneer of electronic music. Throughout his career he received multiple awards and distinctions, including the Golden Lion at the 1995 Venice Biennale for his entire career, as well as the prestigious Imperial Prize of Japan.
