This book brings together some texts that allow access to a complete and systematic vision of the new paradigm of the philosophy of language in which Apel has been working, as well as his strongly controversial position with respect to other contemporary linguistic schools. It should be noted that this publishing house has previously published another book by the author: Globalization and an Ethics of Responsibility (Prometeo, Bs. As., 2007). Karl-Otto Apel is a philosopher known among us especially as the creator and main representative (together with Jürgen Habermas) of the communicative ethics of discourse. However, his main work, on the transformation of philosophy (1972), despite the variety of issues he addresses, can be considered centered around the axis of the philosophy of language. The "transformation" discussed there is that of the classical transcendental philosophy of consciousness, which starts from methodical individualism, into a transcendental philosophy of language, which recognizes the dialogic, communicative character of reason. Apel has never considered that ethics should take the place of primary philosophy. This place, where the ultimate questions of foundation that establish the conditions of possibility of both practical philosophy and theoretical philosophy and knowledge in general are discussed and resolved, is, precisely, the philosophy of language.
