The status of the object in philosophy, science and psychoanalysis has had such different developments that it makes it possible to think about it from very different places. Ethics, morality, economics, psychoanalysis, come together in this book in order to give an important place to the object, sift it, delimit it, even where it is ineffable, impossible and, perhaps, even unspeakable.

With modern philosophy, the object became an object of knowledge; Epistemology invaded modern thought, making it what gave foundation to science. With the different studies of morality and ethics, also in modern philosophy, the object was transformed into a good.

If Kant found that what does not pass through the ego, either does not exist or is nothing for me, taking into account that this object is a representation, Freud found in his clinic that there are representations that are not accompanied by the ego. That there are representations that have nothing to do with the self. It was Freudian metapsychology, first, that stated that an object, as long as it is missing, produces and enables a desire. It is Lacan who, according to ŽiŽek, elevates desire to the condition of the transcendental, but it is a transcendental that has nothing to do with ethics. Contrary to this, which is based on a universal, desire is particular and singular. And, contrary to the objective of economics, what psychoanalysis is about is that there is no enjoyment of the object, that would end up being the end of desire.
