Airbnb has helped turn major cities around the world into theme parks for tourists and resorts for the rich. This book shows how one of the protagonists of the so-called "digital platform capitalism" - Airbnb - has concrete and devastating effects on urban space, on life and on the city. Airbnb is, in fact, a powerful technological instrument that fuels an enormous process of social transformation: from San Francisco to New York, from Lisbon to Rome, the touristification of cities produces the expulsion of residents and the modification of activities in favor of a tourism of the past based on consumption, with the consequent disruption of the social, economic and emotional life that has always accompanied coexistence in the metropolis.
