Joann Sfar is a comic book artist and writer. He was born in Nice to a Jewish family, which later influenced his works. In his work Sfar includes very diverse themes, often personal concerns of the author, such as God, politics, femininity, history and philosophy. Sfar's creation also reflects a strong bond with his family, especially with his mother, who died early and left a void in the author's life.
