Elena Azaola Garrido is a Mexican anthropologist, psychoanalyst and researcher. Her research has focused on children and young people living on the streets or victims of violence and sexual exploitation. She has also studied penitentiary systems (especially with young people and women) and security policies. She is a researcher at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies in Social Anthropology, is part of the National System of Researchers and was a member of the Council of the Human Rights Commission of the Federal District.
