Adolfo García Ortega He was born in Valladolid, although he has been living in Madrid since 1982. During the 80's he devoted himself to cultural journalism and literary criticism in media such as El País, Diario 16 and La Vanguardia, as well as collaborating in literary magazines such as Leer , The Grouse, The raft of the Medusa, Ísula, Chimera, Magazine of the West and International Letter. Between 1988 and 1995 he was a consultant vocal in the cabinet of the Ministry of Culture. From 1995 to 2000 he was editor in El País-Aguilar. From 2000 to 2007 he was Editorial Director of Seix Barral. Since 2007 he is an advisor to the editorial area of ​​Grupo Planeta. He collaborates occasionally in the Spanish newspaper El País. He is a habitual signature of the cultural supplement La Sombra del Ciprés (from the Spanish newspaper El Norte de Castilla), where he has the section Abecedario de lector. In his role as a translator of French and Catalan, he has translated authors such as Valery Larbaud, Roland Barthes, Blaise Cendrars, Isabelle Eberhardt, Colette, Claude Lanzmann, Raymond Queneau, Laurent Binet, Jean-Luc Seigle, Jean-Paul Didierlaurent, Yasmina Reza, Alain Finkielkraut and Françoise Frenkel; also to the Catalan poets Álex Susanna and Miquel Martí i Pol.
