Alek Popov (Sofia, 1966) is a Bulgarian writer, columnist and screenwriter. Since 2012 he is part of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the field of arts. He is a board member of the Bulgarian PEN Center and part of the editorial team of Granta Bulgaria magazine. He has received many awards, including the Elias Canetti Prize, Helikon Award, Chudomir Award, The Reading Man Prize and the Ivan Radoev National Prize for Drama. His works include: Mission London, The Black Box and The Palaveevi Sisters.
