Álvaro Marcelo García Linera (born in Cochabamba, Bolivia on October 19, 1962) is the current vice president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, and a member of the Movement to Socialism party.
During his time in prison, he studied sociology obtaining a degree in graduated after being released. He began working as a university professor in that career and as a news commentator. During this continuous stage, with his intellectual work and academic opinion, he supported trade unionist causes and indigenous movements in South America.
