Amaury Garcia Rodriguez. He is Director of the Center for Asian and African Studies at Colegio de México. He actively participates in national and international academic events; His lines of research revolve around urban popular culture and his visual productions, in particular the relationships between power structures and the production of erotic prints during the 17th and 19th centuries in Japan.
He has a bachelor's degree in Art History from the University of Havana in Cuba, a Master's degree in Asian and African Studies, specializing in Japanese studies, from the Colegio de México, and a Ph.D. in Japanese studies, with an emphasis in History of Japan. During his doctoral research, he participated in the International Research Center for Japanese Studies between 2003 and 2004, for a year he was a professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana, he was also a professor of Asian art subjects at Casa Lamm.
He has the books “Popular Culture and Engraving in Japan” (El Colegio de México, 2005), “El control de la estampa erótica japanese shunga” (El Colegio de México, 2011), and the co-edition “Visual Culture in Japan: Once Ibero-American studies» (El Colegio de México, 2009), in addition to several publications in specialized magazines.
