Andrew Marvell (1621-1678), one of the most interesting and outstanding English poets of the seventeenth century; He was a member of parliament and tutor to high-profile personalities of the time, satirist, poet and friend of Milton. His limited poetic work (some sixty preserved poems) in English, Latin and Greek did not reach recognition until 1921 by the hand of T. S. Eliot, who with his thoughtful comments insisted on the importance and excellence of his poetry.
