Anthony Kiedis

Anthony Kiedis

Grand Rapids (USA), 1962

The American musician is internationally known for being a vocalist and founding member of the popular funk-rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. With more than one hundred million albums sold worldwide, it is considered one of the most influential bands today. Kiedis studied at Fairfax High School, where he met what would become his bandmates, Hillel Slovak, Flea, and Jack Irons. On one occasion Kiedis recounted that before being a friend of Flea they had a confrontation, but finally “we were united by the forces of pain and love, we became virtually inseparable. We were both social outcasts, we met each other and this became the longest lasting friendship of my entire life. ” Although he participated in several bands that were not relevant, it was not until early 1982 when he founded the group, then called "Tony Flow & the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem". His companions were Michael «Flea» Balzary on bass, who still belongs to the group, drummer Jack Irons and his former partner Hillel Slovak, who died of a heroin overdose on June 25, 1988. In 1983 they changed their name to the current one. Kiedis' vocal style changed dramatically over the years, and he learned to better control his voice on each album.
