Arqueles Vela

Arqueles Vela

Arqueles Vela (Tapachula, 1899) was one of the main figures of stridentism. On December 14, 1922, Miss Etcétera by Arqueles Vela, one of the main representatives of avant-garde prose in Latin America, was published in “La novela semanal” of El Universal Ilustrado —a supplement dedicated to disseminating avant-garde Mexican literature. Four years later it was republished in the magazine of the stridentist movement, Horizonte, with the subtitle "Novels" along with the short stories El Café de Nadie and A provisional crime.
