Mexican writer, academic and researcher. He holds professorships at Laney College in Oakland and at the University of California at Berkley UCB. He author of three books. He was awarded the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize in 1955, the Antonio Machado Prize in 1988, and the Juan Ramón Jiménez Prize in 2003.
